Our multi-disciplinary research team from The University of Queensland’s Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining is driving this work.
CSRM researchers are advising three higher degree research (HDR) students who are investigating different social dimensions of mine closure:
- Unfinished business: Case of Tolukuma Gold Mine, Papua New Guinea, a case study on community resilience around the premature closure of Tolukuma mine – Joel Hamago
- The design of a post-mining land-use assessment framework to minimise social and economic disruptions and environmental degradation in coal mining regions facing transition – Andrea Arratia Solar
- Regional planning for mining regions – Lucia Neme Gaviola.
